How Do You Jump Off A Ski Ramp Helicopter Style?
• Find a small jump that has a soft landing and will give you about 1-2 feet of air. Do not learn to do a 360 off a big jump unless you want to be crippled. • Hit the jump a few times to get a feel for it and make sure the landing is soft. Do a straight-air first. Be sure to pop off the jump by bending your knees as you approach the jump and then straightening them at the lip of the jump. Then try a 180. If that goes well try a 360. Popping hard is the key to doing tricks — it lets you get enough air without going super fast. Speed = injury. • As you hit the jump, look over your shoulder in the direction you want to spin. • Continue to turn until you can see your landing. • Reach for the landing with your hands. Your poles and skis should touch down at the same time in a perfect 4 point landing. Stomp the landing by bending your knees as your skis hit the snow.
