How Do You Keep A Pumpkin Fresh After Carving?

0

Everyone knows that soon after you carve a pumpkin it starts to shrivel and look less appealing every day. Many people wait until just days before Halloween to carve their pumpkins so they will be fresh for the big night. However, there are many ways to preserve a pumpkin so that it will last a little longer. Soak your pumpkin before and after carving in a bleach and water mixture to keep mold from growing. After carving your pumpkin apply a petroleum jelly such as Vaseline to the cut edges to prevent it from drying out. Wrap your pumpkin in plastic wrap and store it in your refrigerator when not displaying it. This will help keep it fresher, longer. If your pumpkin starts to shrivel despite your best efforts, submerge it in a tub of water. The worse it is shriveled the longer you will need to soak it. But remember to dry out the inside after soaking.
