Leaf footed bugs are the scourge of tomato growers in many parts of the country. Here is how to identify and control leaf footed bugs organically. The first step is to identify whether the pests in your garden are leaf footed bugs. Leaf footed bugs are somewhat similar in appearance to the beneficial insect known as an “assassin bug.” The differ in that the legs of the leaf footed bugs are larger. In addition, leaf footed bugs are often found in groups, especially when young, whereas assassin bugs are usually found alone or in pairs. Leaf footed young are orange colored, as seen in the photo below. To keep your garden organic you should avoid chemical pesticides and try to control leaf footed bugs naturally.
