Whether building a new house or remodeling an old one, parquet flooring is a great way to have a hardwood look without the hardwood hassle. Follow these steps to install. Remove all baseboards and molding around the floor. Number the boards with the chalk as you remove them. This helps you put the boards back in the right order. Unscrew the hinges on the doors and take the doors off the hinges. Remove any previous flooring from the room. Using a pry bar or screwdriver, take out any nail beds left from the carpeting. Pull up the carpet padding. Sand the floor to remove any glue or residue on the floor. Cover the floor with a 1/2-inch plyboard if the floor is warped or damaged. Mark the floor with chalk. Using a framing square, make a grid on the floor. The grid should look like a piece of graph paper. The lines and 90-degree angles are the guidelines for laying the tile. Plan the l
