How Do You Light Water Heater Pilot Lights?

0

If you do not have hot water and have a gas water heater, chances are your pilot light has gone out. Several reasons can be present as to why the flame went out, such as wind, drafts or even a fluctuation in the gas supply line. Despite the reason, you will need to light the pilot light if it has gone out. The process is straightforward but may require several attempts before you can achieve your desired results. Smell around the bottom of the hot water heater for gas. If you smell gas, do not proceed to light the pilot light. Wait 15 minutes to allow the smell to clear out. If you still smell gas, call your local gas supplier. Turn the control knob to “Off.” This will prevent the hot water heater from kicking on while you are attempting to light the pilot light. Remove the outside and inside panel cover. Typically, the outer panel cover is located at the bottom on the water heater. The inner panel is located directly behind the outer panel cover. Locate the end of the gas supply tube.
