I raised three male kitties from birth, when it was time for them to start using the box I went to Walmart and bought a smaller litter box they aren’t too long and they aren’t tall so this will be perfect. What you need to do is add clean litter to the pan, on top of the clean litter you are going to mix litter that has been used, they will sniff around the entire box, this is going to give them a hint as to what it is for, some kittens at this point understand that when they have to go, they go in that box. If that does not work be patient if they poop outside the box take their waste put it in the litter box and put the kitten inside, they will sniff around and then jump out. You can also try taking them to their box after they eat, after a nap, or if you know how often they usually go you can try taking them when you think its time for their next bowel movement. The first time they use the box watch them carefully at this age they might not be very good at covering their waste and m

If they have a mother, she should be training them. Provide a shallow litter box (I like the foil cake pans) with non-clumping cat litter for them. It’s wise to place a few around so the kittens don’t have far to go to reach one. If these are orphans, you’ll have to teach them yourself. Keep the kittens in one room instead of letting them run all over the house. After they eat, place each one in the litter box and rake it’s paws through the litter. Scoop the feces out but don’t change out the litter as often as you normally would so the scent of their urine and feces is still there. It will lead them back to the pan. Thoroughly clean any spots they’ve used with an enzyme cleaner so they aren’t led back to the spot.
