How Do You Lube Upper Bolt For Strut Mount Replacement?

0

Disassembling the strut correctly is extremely important in the proper functioning of your vehicle’s suspension system upon reassembly. Part of this disassembly will require the strut mounts to be replaced and the upper bolt to the strut mount to be lubed. This is done not only to clean up the strut, but also to salvage a couple of parts that do not come with the new strut mounts. Purchase the new strut mounts and notice the difference between the new and old strut mounts. You will likely find the old strut mount to be extremely corroded and flaking apart. The retaining nut is important to clean up and save, because a new one will not come with the new strut mounts. You can purchase one separately. Remove the strut mount from the vehicle, but leave it assembled. Set somewhere that is clean of debris and dust, but can catch lubricant or other fluids for proper disposal, like an oil pan or other container. Fill the entire strut galley with a penetrating oil or other penetrating lubricant
