How Do You Make A Bee-Friendly Wasp Trap?
Wasps are beneficial insects that eat harmful pests, but when threatened they can become aggressive. To avoid being stung, many people resort to wasp traps that lure wasps in with meat or sweet bait, and don’t allow them to escape. With proper materials, these traps can be made bee-friendly so that the hurting bee population will not also fall prey to these traps. Cut the top fourth of the soda bottle off using scissors or a knife. Invert the top, place it back into the bottle, and tape securely. Brightly colored tape will attract the wasps, but is not necessary. Poke small holes into the sides of the bottle and tie the string in the holes. You can also tape the string to the bottle. Use the string to hang the trap from a tree, eave, or wherever you have a wasp problem. Add the bait to the bottom of the bottle – just a little will do.
