The Open Source community has provided Inkscape as a great alternative. Here’s a tutorial for a simple birthday card. DOWNLOAD INKSCAPE from http://www.inkscape.org/download UNZIP THE FOLDER. You don’t even need to install it. OPEN TEMPLATE–Select “File/New/Letter_landscape. SELECT LINE TOOL–It’s the blue one. DRAW a vertical line halfway across the page template. Half of 11 is 5 1/2, so start at 5 1/2 on the ruler. Click twice to end it, or else it thinks you want to make another line. There’s your card. Now: ADD LAYER. Select Layer/Add Layer. You just created an invisible layer, like a sheet of film, over your picture. Give it a name. ADD PICTURE OF YOUR BELOVED BIRTHDAY CHILD.
