How Do You Make A Braided Chenille Rug?
Spruce up your living space with a simple hand made braided chenille rug. Also a great gift idea. Loosen the ends of the yarn from each of the skiens, so that you have three loose ends (One stand from each skien). Knot the three strands together. Start braiding the three strands together. I find it helpful to tack down the knotted end to my pants with a saftey pin while i’m braiding. This keeps tension on the strands, and makes it much easier to work with the yarn. Once you have abour three feet or so braided, remove the saftey pin (if you used one), and lay the braid out on a flat surface (the floor will do just fine). Begin coiling the braid around the knot you started with. When you’ve reached the end of the 3 feet of braid, saftey pin the coils together, then with your needle and thread, stitch the coils into place.
