Each version of the Janome Harmony Sewing Machine has a different method of creating a buttonhole. The easiest to use–and what most Janome Sewing Machines come equipped with now–is the Automatic Buttonhole. Some Harmony models, including the Harmony 8048, 2041LX and 7061NX have an Automatic Buttonhole feature. While the name may be encouraging, making a buttonhole can be tricky the first few times you attempt it. Go slow and practice on scrap fabric until you are confident in your buttonhole-making skills. Remove the presser foot from the machine by depressing the small knob on the back of the presser foot. Attach the automatic buttonhole presser foot. It will be the largest of the presser feet, commonly labeled presser foot “R.” Adjust the stitch, stitch width and thread tension to accommodate the automatic buttonhole.
