How Do You Make A Cabinet Door Stay Closed?
It happens to everyone. It could be an antique armoire, a kitchen cupboard or a built-in closet. At some point the door refuses to stay shut. You fidget with the contents, shift stuff around and the door may even stay closed. For a second or three–maybe even a minute. Turn your back, and bam!–the thing has again opened. Here is a foolproof way to fix the problem without ever having to mess with the hinges. Fix your cabinet by installing a childproof lock. As an adult, you likely won’t have any trouble getting into the cabinet, and it’s invisible from the outside. Buy a childproof lock at any hardware store. They are sold individually, and extremely easy to install. Line the lock up so that it fastens securely when the cabinet is shut, then mark the screw holes. Open the cabinet entirely and screw the lock in place. For higher cabinets, it’s a good idea to put the latch on the bottom so that it’s easily accessible every time you need to open the cupboard.
