With some fabric, basic sewing knowledge and an inexpensive rod, you can create a stunning designer window treatment that will earn the admiration of your visitors. Install a 1-inch utility rod on your window using an electric screwdriver and the hardware that is supplied with the rod. When determining the placement of the rod, allow each rod end to go past the window frame 2 inches on each side. Measure up from the floor and mark the holes with a pencil on each side so the rod will be level. Attach the brackets and slip the rod onto the brackets.
