How Do You Make A FLAT Braided Rug?
Braided rugs are a fun craft and a wonderful addition to any décor. Choose fabric that matches your home and create a customized rug for living room, bathroom or foyer. Cozy, economical and environmentally friendly, this is a fun and creative project. Gather old clothing and fabric. Braided rugs can be made from either cotton or wool. Cut fabric into 2″ wide strips with a pair of sharp scissors. Use a sewing machine (or needle and thread) to connect pieces until you have strips that are five to six feet in length Stack three strips together. Join them by sewing a straight line across one end of the strips. Pick a thread color that coordinates with the fabrics that you will be using. Put the end of the braid under something heavy to hold it down and begin braiding. Putting the braid under the sewing machine is a good way to hold it in place. When you come to a stopping point, keep the braid together by clipping it with a clothespin. Turn rough edges under as you braid to create a finish
