A fleece drawstring backpack is a great project to work on with any child. It gives the child a chance to learn some basic sewing skills, and at the end of the project she will have a soft pack that she can fill with things for a picnic or sleepover. This backpack won’t be meant to carry heavy items like books, but it will the perfect thing to take a few items to an slumber party or play date. Cut two pieces from the fleece measuring 2 feet by 1 foot. Fold the top edge of one piece down one inch. Sew this hem in place, creating a tunnel in the fabric at least a half-inch wide.
