How Do You Make A Giant Tiki Head?
No island paradise is complete without a Tiki! I’ll show you how to make a large, lightweight, durable and inexpensive one. First, make a large tube out of chicken wire. Use pliers to bend the single ends over and lock the tube in place. Now bend one end of the tube in to form the top of the skull. The face should be opposite the seam. Working in that area, mash and bend your tube to create the hollows of eyes, a forehead, cheekbones. Add larger details like a nose, lips and enhanced browline using screen wire. Bend the edges of the screen wire over the chicken wire where they meet to attach it. The form doesn’t need to be terribly sturdy, as it is going to get encased in insulating foam. Keep adding details until you have the form you want. Put on your gloves and paint clothes. Protect the surface under your form with newspaper or a plastic drop cloth.
