Lighting a unity candle brings a sense of ritual and solemnity to a group, and marks the special occasion of being together. Collect one candle from each person in the group. Everyone should purchase a votive or taper with a color that is meaningful to them. Sort the candles by color. Fill a medium-sized pot or saucepan with about 2 inches of water. Set it on the stove, and bring the water to a boil. Choose the first color you want to work with.
