How Do You Make A Homemade Tobacco Pipe?
Native American Indians smoked tobacco from pipes thousands of years ago and developed a number of elaborate rituals surrounding tobacco products. These days, there are countless types and styles of pipes. But the simplest might be the old-fashioned corn-cob pipe. It requires very little in terms of tools and materials and can be made right at home. Find the right corn cob. Make sure it feels good in your hands and is young enough to still be quite firm. Break off a piece, about 21/2 inches long, from the pointy end of the cob. Using the pen knife, hollow out the core of the cob so that you end up with an opening about 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep. Cut your rice stalk into a piece roughly 6 inches long. At both ends, cut just above a joint in the reed. Hollow out the end that still has the joint–this will be your mouthpiece. Using the tip of the knife, carefully bore a small hole into the pipe, and fit the stalk into the hole.
