A Levant cocktail is a bold, Irish-whiskey-based cocktail that has a sweet, smoky flavor. Fans of Irish whiskey should appreciate the directness of the Levant cocktail, but drinkers who prefer softer, gentler cocktails may not enjoy the strong alcohol flavor of the drink, which is still present after the mixers are added. This recipe makes one Levant cocktail, served straight up. Fill a cocktail shaker half full with crushed ice. Add the Irish whiskey, peach brandy, grenadine syrup and blackcurrant nectar to the cocktail shaker. Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled cocktail glass. Add the champagne to the cocktail and garnish the drink with a freshly sliced lemon wheel. Serve while ice cold.
