Mermaids are beautiful, other-worldly creatures. This article explains how to make a very realistic mermaid tail for cosplay or fancy dress. • Buy a "Monofin or a swim fin ". You can find them at well known sports stores during the summer. Try your favorite sports store and if they don't stock it, ask them if they know who does. If it is winter or you live where it is cold all the time you can order one online. If you want to have a realistic tail shape then cut the monofin (you can't do it with a swim fin) in the shape you prefer. • Put the monofin or swim fin on on and ask a friend or family member to trace your shape down onto cardboard, leaving about 4 inches on each side. Cut out the resulting shape using sharp scissors.
