Making a moon light for an aquarium is relatively easy to do. The supplies are readily found on auction websites and computer supply companies on the Internet. Putting the moonlight together only requires a cold cathode light kit, an adapter and a means to secure the lamp to the aquarium lid. It is much less expensive to make a moonlight than it is to purchase one, and fish seem to enjoy the effect as well as people do. Purchase one or two power supplies for an external hard drive with a four-pin connector at the end of it, or use an available one. Five- to 12-volt-AC-to-4-pin-DC adapters with 3-pin power cords are recommended. Purchase the desired number of 12-inch UV cold cathode light kits depending on the size of the aquarium.
