A papier mache ant hill is a fun craft project for any child. This ant hill can be made with items you have around your house. Since this project does get messy, cover your work area and your clothes before you begin. Step 1 Mix the flour and water together in a large bowl to make a thick paste. The amount of flour and water you need depends on the size of the ant hill. If the paste is too thin, add more flour. Too thick, add more water. Step 2 Cut off the bottom of the bottle 3 to 4 inches from the base. Place the cut bottom piece upside down in the center of the cardboard. Step 3 Tape the bottle into place with the masking tape. Stretch long strips of tape across the top of the bottle and down to the cardboard. Step 4 Cut newspaper into strips measuring 1-by-7 inches long. Step 5 Place the newspaper into the paste to soak.
