Papier mache, made from torn newspapers and paste, is used in many creative projects, and even professional artists use the medium to create large sculptures. Children can make simple sculptures with very little help, while papier mache sculptures made by older artists can be more detailed and complex. Step 1 Form a base for the papier mache sculpture out of wire or any other material that you like. Step 2 Create the sculpture shape from wire or aluminum foil. Compress the aluminum foil tightly so that moisture can’t get stuck in the folds, or it will be difficult to dry. Attach the sculpture shape to the wire base. Step 3 Mix the all-purpose flour, salt and 2 cups of water in a large mixing bowl until the consistency is smooth and looks like glue. Keep a wooden spoon handy.
