Making a pleated bed skirt is fairly easy to do. The hardest part is deciding on the fabric to use. Choose a fabric that will be easy to work with and will be easy to clean. Silk, wool, plastic, or fabrics that have intricate or raised designs would not be a good choice. Measure Measure the drop or the length from the top of the bed springs down to the floor or however long you want them to be. The standard length is 15 inches. Calculate Calculate the amount of fabric to purchase. Measure the length and width of bed springs. Decide on how many pleats and the size of the pleats. For each 6 inch pleat add 12 inches. Add 2 lengths and 1 width together, then add the inches from the pleats. Add 6 inches for seams and a little extra. Divided the total number by 36 (inches in one yard).
