How Do You Make A Pouch Backpack?
Making your own backpack is a simple enough project for those experienced with sewing and challenging enough to help a beginner hone her skills. A pouch backpack is a drawstring sack that has shoulder straps so that you can wear it as a backpack. You can use any kind of fabric to make a pouch backpack, but the heavier the fabric the sturdier your backpack will be. They make excellent bags for kids to tote around coloring books in, or for adults to use on day trips and errands. Step 1 Fold down a 2-inch flap of fabric across each 16-inch side of the fabric. Fold the flaps so the wrong side of the fabric is touching. Sew across the bottom of each flap leaving a tube so that you can later pass your cording through. Fold the fabric in half, right sides together, so that you have a 16-by-18 inch rectangle of fabric. The tubes will be at the top of the fabric. Pin the sides together. Step 2 Sew the pinned together sides, stopping right before the opening to the tubes. Trim any loose threads
