Lay the jeans flat on a table with the zipper up. Use a ruler and marker to create a level cutting line at the crotch. Cut through the jeans using the marker line as a guide. When cut, the piece should look like an extremely short blue jeans skirt. Cut the purse strap from one of the cut-away legs. Lay the leg flat on the table and cut up the longest side of the leg 1 1/2 inches in, cutting through both layers of fabric. This will yield a strip of fabric that is 3 inches wide.
