Padded headboards with shirring around the perimeter are an easy way to add a designer touch to the bedroom. Make a simple shirred headboard with contrasting fabric for a bold statement, or use the same fabric on both sections and gather the shirring for an elegant look. Once you understand the basic steps, you can add design elements based on your personal style. Step 1 Cut the plywood to the desired width, height and shape of your headboard.
