You can make effective, non-toxic plant sprays with ingredients that you have in your own kitchen. Tabasco plant spray is quick and easy to make and if you have an infestation of mites or other insects, the spicy spray might be just the ticket. It also discourages squirrels, deer and other critters from snacking on your plants. Bring a large saucepan of water to a rolling boil and add the Tabasco sauce to the boiling water. Remove the saucepan from the burner and allow the mixture to steep for at least 24 hours. Stir in the cold water to dilute the mixture. Mix in the dishwashing detergent, which will help the Tabasco spray stick to the plant’s leaves. Pour the spray into a large spray bottle. Spray a light mist on the leaves of the plant.
