Fall is around the corner and the Apple crop is at its peak! Grab a bag of Apples and make a Spicy Apple Butter. Fill the house with the fragrance of Fall! Quarter and remove stem from 4 pounds of apples. Place apples and 1 cup of apple cider in a slow cooker for 10 hours or overnight on High. Sift the apples through a food mill and return pulp to slow cooker. Add 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon allspice and cook for another hour. If there is too much liquid leave the lid off for this hour. If you want to preserve: Ladle apple butter into hot, sterilized pint jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Process in boiling-water canner for approximately 10 minutes.
