How Do You Make Bar-B-Que Sauce With Sugar Substitute?

Make homemade barbecue sauce using a brown sugar substitute. You won’t be able to tell it has sugar substitute in it and neither will anyone else. This can be made in advance and kept cold in the refrigerator to use at your leisure. Chop the onion. (I use real onion because it tastes better and because I love sautéed onions.) You want at least ¼ cup of onion, finely chopped. Place the chopped onion in a small pot and turn heat to medium. Add butter or margarine. Mix onions and butter or margarine until butter is melted. Sautee onions for at least 6 to 7 minutes or longer if you like yours to brown some. Add the liquid smoke flavoring, lemon juice and brown sugar substitute. Make sure the sugar substitute is mixed well with the liquid ingredients. Add the mustard and ketchup to the onion and brown sugar mixture and stir. Let mixture come to a bubble and then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, take mixture off burner and let cool at room temperature. Use
