How Do You Make Basic Rice Pudding?
Rice pudding was originally used in Europe as medicinal, and it still has the reputation of being a simple, bland food that the sick can eat when they don’t feel up to anything else. But even if you are feeling fine, these steps will produce a delicious rice pudding. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Put the rice in a covered bowl with enough cold water to cover the rice and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Drain the cold water from the rice thoroughly using a sieve, and then pour the rice into a well-greased, oven-safe ceramic dish. Mix the other ingredients and pour over the rice. Leave to soak for about 1 hour. Stir the mixture, and then place the dish in the oven to bake for about 90 minutes. Half-way though the cooking, remove the dish and stir the mixture again. Return it to the oven to complete the cooking. Remove the dish from the oven when the pudding is lightly browned on top.
