How Do You Make Beaded Hair Combs?
Inexpensive plastic or metal hair combs can become deluxe hair accessories with a touch of delicate and colorful beading. Whether you want to feature glass or shaped beads along the top of the comb or simply give the accessory a light shimmer of tiny beads, choose colors that complement your hair color or the shades of your favorite outfits. Use a simple wire technique to keep larger beads secure or an easy glue method to affix a single layer of micro beads or seed beads. Cut a 12-inch-long piece of 22- to 30-gauge craft wire—sold at jewelry-making, scrapbooking or craft stores—with sharp scissors or wire clippers. Push one end of the wire through the hole in the rightmost “tooth” of the metal or plastic hair comb. Pull two inches of the wire through the hole, wrap it around the top of the comb and twist it around the rest of the wire to attach the wire to the comb. Pull the wire to the front of the hair comb.
