How Do You Make Beaded Plastic & Mesh Wind Spinners?
Wind spinners are a variation on what used to be called a pinwheel, where the air foils rotate around a dangling string or wire instead of a nail through a board. They are decorative, and with the advent of plastic mesh canvas, making them can be a delightful child’s craft. Cut your wire to a length that will be the height of your spinner. Using the pliers, bend a loop at the bottom end, large enough to keep your beads from slipping off. String a bead onto the wire. You can use any length of heavy-gauge wire; the bottom of a hanger is ideal. Beads can be nearly any size, with a hole large enough to accommodate the wire but not so large as to make the bead floppy on it. Nearly any shape bead will do, as well. Poke one end of one of the mesh strips onto the wire, followed by a bead, then the end of another strip, bead, strip, and so on until each of the strips has been added.
