This is a traditional stuffing recipe my mother and grandmother have used and the one that I have passed down to my daughter. This will make enough stuffing for any chicken or a turkey up to about 15 pounds. Read on to learn more. Wash and chop the celery. Peel and chop the onion. In a small sauce pan combine onion, celery and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the onions are clear in color. Remove from heat. Stir in the sage and salt. Tear the bread into pieces about 1 inch by 2 inches and put it in a large bowl. Pour the onion and celery mixture over the bread. Pour the milk over the top to cool the onions and celery down. Use your hands to knead all the ingredients together. When it is completely mixed your stuffing is ready to put into the bird.
