Whether you are making a birthday, Valentine’s, or Christmas card, adding a pop-up feature will make it impressive and unusual. The fan-fold technique is the easiest and most foolproof way to make a pop-up card. Make your card minus the pop-feature using construction paper, glitter glue, and markers. Glue an extra layer of construction paper, cut with scissors, to the card so that it is thicker. Create the part of the card that you want to pop out using more construction paper, cutting it out with scissors. Cut a 1-inch-wide strip from an index card, lengthwise. Color the strip with a marker that matches the inside of the card. Fan-fold the strip of colored index card by folding a half-inch section forward, flipping the strip over, and folding another half-inch section forward again.
