This recipe is from my Grandmother (from her Great Grandmother) and has been a part of every Sunday breakfast for as long as I can remember. I’m sure some things have changed over the years, but these ‘sweet rolls’, ‘sticky buns’ or whatever you want to call them have been a tradition in our household and will for years to come. They are the best cinnamon caramel pecan rolls I’ve ever tasted. Start by dissolving a package of yeast and one teaspoon of sugar and ½ cup of warm water in a small bowl. Stir to mix and set aside to let the yeast activate. Meanwhile, blend hot water, ¾ cup sugar, oil, eggs, salt and 1 cup flour in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and mix well. Then add the other 3 cups of flour (this will be sticky) but make sure it is mixed very well. Turn dough into a well greased bowl and set in a nice warm place to rise.
