How Do You Make Homemade BBQ Sauce, Barbecue Sauce (Spicy If You Like)?

I needed BBQ sauce one day and didn’t have any, so, I threw together this recipe. It has been well received. Whether you like your BBQ sauce spicy or not, I hope you will enjoy this recipe. Just leave out the hot sauce if you don’t want the heat. Chop onion and bell pepper. You can chop this extremely fine with a food processor. I usually chop by hand because I like the larger chunks in the BBQ Sauce. Mix in 1 qt. pot the wet ingredients. (Mustard, Ketchup, Liquid Smoke, and Hot Sauce) Add chopped onion, bell pepper and minced garlic. Stir. Add sugar, salt and black pepper to taste. Stir. Place on stove and bring to a boil. Stir. Reduce heat. Simmer and stir occasionally to prevent sticking. I cook mine covered until done because this thickens quite nicely. This will be ready to eat or store in about 25 minutes.
