Making your own celebratory items for birthdays can not only save you money, but can present a festive quality of warmth and thoughtfulness that store-bought birthday items can’t adequately convey. When you create homemade birthday items, it’s important to create something original that the guest of honor and invited guests will treasure for a long time. Find a flattering photograph of the birthday boy or girl and make an enlarged color copy of it with a color copying machine. Blow it up to a size where it’s as large as possible, but still has a good image quality. Turn the enlarged image over and apply rubber cement thoroughly to the back of it, concentrating on the corners. Press the glue onto a piece of colored posterboard that is 22 inches by 28 inches.
