How Do You Make Homemade Pizza Sauce?
Homemade pizza sauce is easy to make in your own kitchen. It’s healthier than using jarred sauce because it contains no preservatives or extra sugar; plus, you control the amount of salt. The whole process takes only about 20 minutes. Pour the tomatoes into a blender or food processor. Puree or process until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, crushed garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes to the pot. Cook over medium heat until the garlic is sizzling (about 40 seconds). Add tomatoes, spices and wine or water to the pot. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes or until it reaches the desired thickness. Season with salt and pepper (to taste). Store the sauce, covered, in your refrigerator for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld before using it on pizza.
