How Do You Make Homemade Potato Chips (Recipe)?
If you like potato chips, you will love this homemade version. You will never want to go back to the preprocessed ones again. Scrub potatoes. Remove any eyes but leave the skin on. Baking potatoes such as russets and Yukon golds work best, but any type will do. Use a vegetable peeler or sharp knife to slice potatoes paper thin. Sprinkle with garden seasoning. Heat vegetable oil in skillet over medium heat. Oil should be approximately one inch deep. Use new oil as the potatoes will soak up flavors from previously cooked food. Add raw potato chips when oil becomes hot. Fry until potatoes become light brown then flip. Cook one to two additional minutes. Use a deep fryer for crispier potato chips. This cuts cooking time in half and there is no need to flip them. Remove potato chips from oil and place on paper towels to soak up excess grease. Add salt or additional seasoning if needed. Serve hot or at room temperature.
