How Do You Make Homemade Potato Chips?

Make your own homemade potato chips. Step 1 Pour the oil into the pan, skillet or fryer and heat until 400 degrees. While the oil is heating, move onto step two and three. Step 2 Rinse the potatoes until all the dirt is removed from the skin. You can either peel the potatoes or leave the skin on them. Step 3 Slice the potatoes very thin with a knife or a mandolin if you have one. Place the slices of potato into cold water so they don’t turn grey while you finish slicing the potatoes and oil heats. Step 4 Once the oil is heated to 400 degrees, remove a handful of the thinly sliced potatoes in a paper towel and dry. This will keep the oil from popping on you and burning you. Step 5 Fry the thin potato slices until golden brown and crisp. Step 6 Remove the potato chips from the fryer and place them on the plate or platter to drain. Step 7 To season the homemade potato chips, you can place them in a bag. Shake the amount of salt or other seasonings on to the chips in the bag. Gently shake
