Make your own homemade potato chips. Step 1 Pour the oil into the pan, skillet or fryer and heat until 400 degrees. While the oil is heating, move onto step two and three. Step 2 Rinse the potatoes until all the dirt is removed from the skin. You can either peel the potatoes or leave the skin on them.
