How Do You Make Milk Replacer For Lambs And Kids?

0

I’ve raised sheep and goats for over 20 years, and one of the things I used to dread was bottle babies. Lamb or kid milk replacer is stinky, expensive, and can be difficult to find when you live in cow country like I do. When a New Zealand producer told me about this mix, I tried it, and never looked back. The lambs and kids absolutely love it, and grow like weeds! We’ve raised lambs, kids, even a baby deer on this, with no problems. I’ve even had kids who were being raised by their mothers try to muscle in on the bottle! Must be the sweet smell! Pour 3 cups of the milk out of the gallon jug. Now pour in the evaporated milk and the buttermilk. Fill the rest of the jug with the whipping cream. By whipping cream I mean the stuff you buy in the quart container that’s essentially straight cream. Shake well. You’re done!
