How Do You Make Model Power Poles Out Of Matchsticks?

0

A basic method of grabbing viewer attention to a scale model lies with creating details that help to bring a modeling scene to life. For modern models, a piece that largely adds a sense of time to a scene is the ubiquitous power pole. Using matchsticks to form the wooden body of the pole, you can quickly build enough to fill out any scene. Whether you’re building small slice-of-life dioramas or large model-train layouts, all it takes to modernize the scene with matchstick power poles is a few cuts and some gluing. Create the horizontal crossbars that are placed toward the top of the pole to hold the power wires. You can build a simple model of a power pole with only two crossbars. Measure a point on two matchsticks that’s 9/10th of an inch in length. Mark this point with your pencil. Place the matchstick into the matchstick cutter along the cutting groove. Align the marked point with the notch in the groove. Press down the cutter lever, pushing the cutter blade through the matchstick.
