How Do You Make Old Mulch Look New?
You can revive old mulch by coloring it using a commercial mulch colorant. Mulch colorants can be used on pine straw, mulch or grass. They can be applied by certified technicians or purchased by the gallon and applied yourself. The colorant uses a non-toxic colorant that is safe for animals and plants. Purchase the correct color mulch colorant that will match the underlying mulch. Choose from colors that include black, red, brown and green or make your own custom color using the custom color kit. Add three to four ounces of colorant in a gallon of water and mix well, or follow the directions for mixing. Add the mixture to a standard plastic pump sprayer. Spray the liquid on old mulch, covering 100 to 200 square feet with one pass. Wait five minutes. Begin covering the same area with a second pass.
