In a soup kettle, saute the chopped onions in butter until tender. 3. Stir the flour and spices into the onions. Then gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a boil, cooking and stirring for 2 minutes. Add the potatoes, and bring it back to a boil. Now reduce the heat, cover the kettle with its lid, and simmer for 10 minutes. 4.
