Here is a recipe that will make perfectly cut out sugar cookies every time! You’re shapes will never spread while baking. Perfect shapes each and every time! Tastes great too! This recipe will make approximately 40, 1/8″ thick cookies. Using a fork, cream 1 cup salted butter (not margarine)and 1 cup sugar. Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract. Blend very well with fork. In a separate bowl, combine 3 cups flour (no need to sift), 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients a little at a time into the butter mixture. Work in all the ingredients until a soft dough forms. Roll out half of the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and place it on a shelf in the fridge for 20-30 minutes – the thicker the dough, the longer the time. This will make for very easy cookie dough cutting. When ready, preheat oven to 325, cut out your shapes (no need to thaw dough), place on baking sheet and bake at 325 for 10-12 minutes.
