Let’s just say, I’m one for baking, okay? I’m a complete cookie snob. I’m not a fan of rock-hard, teeth-breaking, strong-as-steel cookies by any means; especially when it comes to Snickerdoodles. So, I’ve created a tasty alternative that doesn’t require the use of that nasty shortening known as Crisco. So, let’s get to baking, shall we? Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix butter, sugar and eggs thoroughly in a large bowl. Make sure you don’t forget the sides of the bowl! Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt together in a small dish. Make sure you blend it together well. Add your dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Chill an ungreased cookie sheet in the freezer for approximately 5 minutes. While you are chilling your sheet, mix the excess sugar and cinnamon together to prepare for rolling. Break off pieces of the dough in roughly 3/4″ to 1″ pieces and roll into small balls.
