You will need one strand of each color. When you separate the base strings and the outside strings, make sure that you have one of each color in both categories. For example, if you are using red and white, make sure you have one red and one white base string, and one red and one white outside string. When you are tying, it is especially important now to keep track of which string is going under and which is going over; it can’t change!
