How Do You Make Vodka Infused Plums?
Fruits infused with alcoholic spirits were once a common way to preserve fruits long after the season ended. Plums were popular because they were easy to grow and easy to infuse. They were then chopped and mixed into pies and cakes or used as a topping for other desserts. Like many old time preserving methods, infusing plums with vodka is simple, but takes several weeks for the process to be complete. Prick each plum several times with the tines of a fork. Lay in a single layer on a wire rack inserted inside a cookie sheet. Preheat your oven to its lowest setting. This is generally around 170 degrees or if using gas, no preheating is needed.
