How Do You Make Wort Chiller For Home Brewing?
When home brewers start to go beyond the basics of brewing, they generally find they need additional equipment to have more control over the brewing process. One of the first major necessities is a wort chiller, which rapidly cools the wort after boiling to prevent unwanted microorganism growth. Commercial wort chillers can be expensive, but they are not particularly difficult to make at home for less. Step 1 Bend the copper tube in a coil to form a large cylinder. The cylinder should be small enough in diameter to rest completely inside your brewing kettle with one or two inches of clearance on all sides, and each layer of the coil should touch the layers over and under it. You should leave the last 2 feet or so of the tube unbent; this end will be on the bottom of the finished wort chiller. Use the copper bender to do this without kinking the tube, as any kinks in the copper will result in very inefficient water flow through the chiller, negating much of its overall benefit. Step 2 U
